The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) released new training regulations for real estate salespersons to uplift the qualifications and standardize the training.
In a statement, TESDA said it finished the new training regulations on Real Estate Services NC II last January. The guidelines state real estate salespersons must be trained in sales and marketing, documentation, loans processing, and property and management functions.
Under the TR, entrants must have finished at least 10 finish years of basic education or obtained an Alternative Learning System certificate. They must also possess respectable communication and mathematical skills.
According to data gathered by the Philippine Association of Real Estate Boards Inc. (Pareb), there are 32,346 real-estate brokers; 10,648 real-estate appraisers; 226 real-estate consultants; and 15,375 real-estate salespersons in the country as of last October.
But according to the Real Estate Service Act of the Philippines, there should be 20 salespersons per broker, bringing the ideal number of salespersons to 646,920, according to Pareb estimates as the demand for real-estate service practitioners is expected to further go up.
Tesda Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said the TR will standardize the requirements for being, as well as the services provided by, a real-estate service provider.
“There are times when we get approached by real-estate salespersons offering us properties and we do not know whether they are really knowledgeable with what they offer or the offer is even legitimate. This will prevent or even eliminate the guesswork when companies or individuals require the services of these agents,” Lapeña said.
