NLEX Corporation, a unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, has allotted over Php 150 million for improvements of the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) in Central Luzon.
According to the company, repairs are ongoing for the slope protection of Pinulot, Loakan and Cui river bridges in Dinalupihan, Bataan. These projects will help prevent structures from scouring and erosion ahead of the rainy season.
The pavement repair program on the 38 lane km of SCTEX is also underway. This involves light patching works and asphalt overlays from Tarlac to Tipo including the Subic Freeport Expressway.
The same program is also being done at the 40 lane km of NLEX from Balintawak to Sta. Ines.
“These are part of our efforts to maintain and make our roads safe for all weather conditions, giving the public comfortable travel and helping facilitate efficient mobility of goods and services,” said NLEX Corp. president and general manager Luigi Bautista.
Last year, four-camera-equipped emergency call boxes were set up at the Subic bound directions of Dinalupihan and Porac; and the Tarlac bound directions of Dolores and San Miguel to enhance communication between motorists and the expressway’s personnel tasked to monitor and control traffic.
Variable electronic message signs were also put up at Floridablanca (Subic-bound), Concepcion (Subic-bound), Porac (Tarlac-bound), and Bamban (Tarlac-bound) interchanges. These devices provide updated traffic information. Furthermore, reflective delineator posts and plates were also installed at the expressway to aid nighttime navigation of motorists.
The North Luzon Expressway-SCTEx was formally integrated in 2016.
