Due to the government announcing an “enhanced community quarantine” as a response to the continuing COVID-19 scare, everyone living in Metro Manila is encouraged to stay at home to prevent the further spreading of the virus.
In light of this pandemic, major utility and credit card companies have announced extension periods and leeways in their payment deadlines as a way to accommodate everyone who can’t pay on time. This will help everyone to budget their finances better, and prioritize food and safety during this difficult time.
Here is the list of utility and credit card companies that have announced their updated payment schedules:
As of March 16, 2020, the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) has implemented a 30-day payment extension period for everyone whose due dates are from March 1 up to April 14, 2020.
Disconnection of service to all overdue accounts will be suspended until April 14, 2020, so that all Maynilad customers will have water, especially in these times where cleanliness and sanitation are necessary for preventing any form of illnesses other than COVID-19. Payments can still be done via online, banking, and fund transfer methods.
Manila Water has announced a 30-day extension from the due date of water bills.
CREDIT CARD/BANK PAYMENTS
BDO has provided a 60-day extension period for qualified Credit Card, Auto, Home, SME, and Personal Loan customers with due dates of up to April 15, 2020.
BPI has issued a 30-day grace period for qualified credit card, personal, home, auto, and SME loan clients to help ease the burden of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
All eligible EastWest Bank customers and cardholders are given a 30-day grace period to pay their auto, home, personal, mortgage, and EEL loans. An email or SMS advice will be sent to customers who will qualify for this payment extension program.
RCBC Bankcard has implemented a payment leeway wherein cardholders in good standing with due dates from March 6 up to April 15 can pay their dues 30 days after their original due date.
Cardholders may also choose to pay via the RCBC Online website and banking app in compliance with the enhanced community quarantine.
Metrobank has implemented a 30-day grace period for qualified clients with car and home loans, and credit card payments. All qualified clients will be notified via email with the full details.
Chinabank is giving a 30-day payment extension for their consumer loan customers with good standing. Auto and housing loan amortizations due from March 15 up to April 15, 2020, may be settled 30 days after the original due date without late fees or penalty.
Security Bank has extended payment due dates for their customers with a credit card, home, personal, auto, business mortgage, or business express loan whose payment status is current with no past-due balance as of March 16, 2020, and whose payment due date is between March 16, 2020 to April 14, 2020.
Robinsons Bank has provided a grace period for the payments due from March 16 to April 15, 2020, for clients with housing, auto, personal, motorcycle, and credit card loans.
Customers may continue to settle their loans, bill payments, and fund transfers via RBank Digital.
UnionBank has delayed credit card payments for 30 days from the original due date with no late fee. The 30-day grace period covers UnionBank cardholders with due dates from March 17 up to April 15, 2020.
Cardholders may also continue to pay their bills through the UB mobile app and other available digital channels.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS, INTERNET, AND CABLE
PLDT-Smart has issued a payment extension period of 30 days for all their postpaid customers for PLDT Home, PLDT Enterprise, and Smart & Sun Postpaid.
All Cignal subscribers will be allowed to pay their subscription 30 days after their original due date.
Globe Telecom has provided a 30-day bill payment extension period to all postpaid (both mobile and broadband) subscribers, as well as to all business and enterprise customers nationwide.
Globe has also encouraged its customers to download its official apps (GlobeOne and Globe At Home) to track their data usage, subscribe to promos, and pay their bills while being quarantined at home.
To provide uninterrupted SKYcable and Internet service to their customers, Sky has announced a 30-day extension for bill payment. SKY also encouraged customers to access their account information and pay bills worry-free at home at MySKY.com.ph or through the MySKY app.
