What makes the real estate industry good grounds to bolster one’s career? What does it take to become successful in this field? What advice can experts share with aspiring property sellers?
Let’s take a look at the makings of the real estate industry and its benefits for aspiring agents and budding practitioners.
Real Estate as a Booming Industry
Jomar Escalante, sales talent acquisition and retention and training associate at Federal Land, shared that the real estate industry is filled with opportunities for aspiring individuals.
“We have a lot of [property] sellers in Federal Land who started their investments in real estate. They started here having nothing, but now they have their own houses and lots, they have their own cars, they went back to school and finished their studies. So you really have a lot of opportunities in real estate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sherisa Dizon, recruitment associate at Ayala Land Premier said, “Real estate is a good industry to be in because it’s a timeless industry.”
Property seekers and sellers both benefit from real estate because its value appreciates over time. This is also why the property market is one of the industries that can hedge against inflation.
Building Connections in the Property Field
As a customer-oriented field, the real estate industry mainly focuses on building connections with clients and networking with fellow professionals. Nigel Diola, licensed broker from Pinnacle Real Estate Consulting Services Inc., shared how the industry is good grounds for creating rapport.
“[The] real estate industry is a good industry to work in because it brings out the potential from the people who would like to engage in field works, customer service, being professional, and providing the needs of the clients. Also, it is one of the most promising industries,” he said.
Likewise, Clarence John Cruz, senior talent acquisition partner at Realbase said, “You will really learn many things especially when it comes to building connections. As an individual, you must have a large volume of connections within your profession.”
It takes effort to constantly keep up with colleagues and customers in a competitive field like the real estate. That is why it is vital to learn creative ways to spark conversations and keep people engaged.
“It’s no longer sellers seeing their clients as a peso sign. Rather, we wanted to create long-lasting relationships with our clients,” Lourdz Mangalindan, head of the Brokers’ Network Group – Century Sales Management said.
Characteristics of a Good Agent
Anyone can study and learn concepts related to selling a property, but not everyone has what it takes to become a good professional. Diola shared a key trait that every salesperson must have.
“For a good real estate professional, the qualities that they need to have first is to be knowledgeable on what they actually do [and the] services that they offer to the customers. A good real estate professional can make problems easy to solve for clients,” he added.
According to Cruz, the qualities of a good real estate professional are, “[N]umber one, you must be tech-savvy, and second, you have to be honest with your connections, especially with the customers that you’re currently handling. Third, you must be transparent.”
Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Real Estate Professionals
The road to success can be full of challenges. Therefore, you will need every push and help you can get to thrive and prosper in the real estate world.
“[B]e understanding of what the customer needs. [A]nd also, [be] knowledgable on the processes that you would like to offer. Being successful in the real estate industry doesn’t do anything with the property you are selling; it’s about the services that you offer,” Diola said.
Kesy Marie Moreno, Recruitment head at Avida Land Corp. – Digital and International Sales Group said, “For those who want to succeed in the real estate industry, you [need] to have full commitment and passion at work.”
Passion and persistence lead to the success of real estate professionals. These traits must be constantly observed in order to flourish in the field of selling properties.
The real estate industry is a complex field where property specialists serve as a bridge between developers and buyers. And while the complexities may sometimes be challenging, they make careers in real estate rightfully rewarding.
