The Beginning of Buildings in Manila

Traditional houses in the Philippines started in a bungalow structure or bahay kubo. It was during the Spanish colonization that the introduction of another level emerged and became known as bahay na bato. It was an upgrade from the traditional bahay kubo and homes are now made out of solid stone blocks.
