Houses in San Pedro are sold at prices ranging from as low as Php600,000 to as high as Php140 million. Prices usually depend on the location, size, and type of the house to be purchased. Bigger houses located in exclusive and high-class subdivisions would obviously cost more than houses outside subdivisions or those located by the National Road. Another factor to consider is whether the house to be bought is foreclosed or not. Foreclosed houses are generally cheaper than most houses, but it would be important to note that buying houses that have been foreclosed might carry with it certain risks. Foreclosed houses in San Pedro start at Php420,000 and can go as high as Php17.6 million. Renting a house in San Pedro, on the other hand, start at Php55,000. Prices would necessarily involve the factors mentioned above.

The City of San Pedro is a rather young city in the Province of Laguna, considering that it was declared a city only in 2013 when the people of San Pedro ratified the city’s Charter in a plebiscite conducted for the said purpose.

San Pedro is one of the cities in the Province of Laguna closest to Metro Manila, considering that it is only around 32 kilometers from Manila. With the convenience brought by the Skyway and the South Luzon Expressway, travelling from San Pedro to Manila would take around an hour, depending on the traffic.

As of the 2015 census, 325,809 people have been recorded to have been living in the City of San Pedro, despite having territorial bounds at merely 24.05 square kilometers. It has a recorded density of 14,000 people per square kilometer, making it the top-ranking city in the Province of Laguna and in the CALABARZON Region in terms of population density. It is also the fourth most populated city in the Province of Laguna, after Calamba, Binan, and Santa Rosa.

The Rock in the South of the Metro

Rent to Own Houses in San Pedro Laguna“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it”

In the above verse under the Book of Matthew in the Bible, Jesus gives Simon, one of his disciples, the name Peter, which supposedly translates to “Rock”. In essence, Jesus was telling Peter that he would be the foundation of the Church upon which the Catholic faith would stand. The City of San Pedro, on the other hand, which stands on firm lands within the Province of Laguna, takes its name from the aforementioned Saint Peter, and although a city was built upon the literal rock or ground upon which the San Pedro stands, several churches and religious destinations can be found within the city, thereby giving justice to the Saint from whom the city takes its name.

One religious artifact kept in the city is the Krus ng San Pedro Tunasan. The Cross has been famous throughout the years as a healing relic that is known to have once healed the people of San Pedro when an epidemic hit it. Its popularity in the past as a healing artifact was so great that it was even mentioned in a novel written by no other than the National Hero himself, Dr. Jose Rizal. In his controversial book, Noli Me Tangere, Rizal writes about the Cross in a chapter where Kapitan Tiyago and Tiya Isabel, the guardians of an ill Maria Clara, the leading lady in this story, were debating as to whether they should pay tribute to the Cross of Tunasan or to the Cross of Matahong in Malabon.

Buying Rent to Own House in San PedroApart from the miraculous healing Cross in the city, the City of San Pedro has a lot more to offer in terms of tourism. For one, the city holds the Sampaguita Festival every February, which is flocked to for the sampaguita flowers, the cultural activities, and the grand flower parade. The city also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest sampaguita line, spanning around 3.6 kilometres along the National Highway from areas in Binan, San Pedro, and Muntinlupa. The Christmas Festival in San Pedro is another annually celebrated festival in the city that runs from the beginning of December up to the end of the month.

There are, of course, other sectors contributing to the city’s economy, including industrial, manufacturing, and retail establishments that open job opportunities for residents of the city, as well as other key establishments that offer educational, financial, and banking services, among others, to the people. Agricultural lands and establishments may still be found in the city, but the size of such lands are starting to dwindle due to the urbanization of the city and the necessary conversion of the said lands for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.
