Affordable Rent to Own House in San Pedro, Laguna
The Rock in the South of the Metro
In the above verse under the Book of Matthew in the Bible, Jesus gives Simon, one of his disciples, the name Peter, which supposedly translates to “Rock”. In essence, Jesus was telling Peter that he would be the foundation of the Church upon which the Catholic faith would stand. The City of San Pedro, on the other hand, which stands on firm lands within the Province of Laguna, takes its name from the aforementioned Saint Peter, and although a city was built upon the literal rock or ground upon which the San Pedro stands, several churches and religious destinations can be found within the city, thereby giving justice to the Saint from whom the city takes its name. One religious artifact kept in the city is the Krus ng San Pedro Tunasan. The Cross has been famous throughout the years as a healing relic that is known to have once healed the people of San Pedro when an epidemic hit it. Its popularity in the past as a healing artifact was so great that it was even mentioned in a novel written by no other than the National Hero himself, Dr. Jose Rizal. In his controversial book, Noli Me Tangere, Rizal writes about the Cross in a chapter where Kapitan Tiyago and Tiya Isabel, the guardians of an ill Maria Clara, the leading lady in this story, were debating as to whether they should pay tribute to the Cross of Tunasan or to the Cross of Matahong in Malabon.
There are, of course, other sectors contributing to the city’s economy, including industrial, manufacturing, and retail establishments that open job opportunities for residents of the city, as well as other key establishments that offer educational, financial, and banking services, among others, to the people. Agricultural lands and establishments may still be found in the city, but the size of such lands are starting to dwindle due to the urbanization of the city and the necessary conversion of the said lands for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.
