Pampanga has a population of almost 2.2 million based on the 2015 Census. It is one of the seven provinces that comprise Central Luzon and it is the Philippines’ ninth largest in terms of population.

Pampanga is the location of the Clark Freeport Zone, one of the two former military installations left by the United States, part of which is the almost 10,000 hectare Clark Green City.

Pampanga is considered as an educational hub in Central Luzon, being home to a number of notable colleges and universities, including the Angeles University Foundation, Holy Angel University, and the University of the Philippines Diliman Extension Program, among many others.

Pampanga is a transportation hub. The North Luzon Expressway passes through Pampanga and ends in Mabalacat, while the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway connects the province (and Tarlac) to the Subic Freeport Zone.

Pampanga comprises 19 municipalities and three cities, namely, Angeles City, San Fernando, which is the provincial capital, and Mabalacat.

Enjoy Living the Dolce Vita Lifestyle

Modern Design House

Measuring a mere 2,002 square kilometers (2,062 square kilometers if Angeles City is included), Pampanga is the Philippines’ 60th largest province out of 81 in terms of land area. Its topographical features are not that remarkable either. Aside from low rolling hills and the 1,026-meter-tall Mount Arayat situated close to the province of Nueva Ecija, there is nothing much going on in the province in terms of terrain and geographical features. However, what the province lacks in interesting terrain, it more than makes up for in culinary tradition, culture, and heritage.

In fact, the 19 municipalities and three cities of the province all boast of culinary gems of their own. Perhaps it is the dolce vita lifestyle Pampangueños have enjoyed since during the Spanish times, or the abundant harvest brought by the province’s fertile plains. Whatever the reason, good food is always at the center of Pampanga’s traditions. After all, it is the place where the much-beloved sisig originated.

Food is not the only thing that Pampanga is extremely proud of. Economically speaking, it is one of the Philippines’ most progressive provinces, thanks to its proximity to Metro Manila, top notch transportation infrastructures, a strong manufacturing sector, and the great entrepreneurial sense of its locals.

The province is also a tourist magnet. Its Giant Lantern Festival, held and celebrated in San Fernando every December, attracts thousands if not millions from all over the Philippines. Clark Freeport Zone, a former American military installation, is also a tourist hotspot in its own right, and it is where the annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is held every February. The Freeport Zone is also home to Clark International Airport, which is being groomed to replace the Ninoy Aquino International Airport as the Philippines’ major international gateway.
