Barangay Highway Hills is one of the 27 barangays comprising the territory of the City of Mandaluyong. Located in the 1st District of the Mandaluyong, Highway Hills predominantly covers an area traversing the EDSA Highway.

As of 2010, 22,684 people have been recorded to have been living in Barangay Highway Hills. It also has one of the largest land areas in the City, with 105.12 hectares covered thereunder.

While a good half of the area is comprised of residential houses and buildings, a major part of the area is covered by commercial establishments. A small portion of the barangay, on the other hand, are covered by industrial and institutional establishments.

Condos in the area go for as low as Php600,000 to as high as Php20 million, depending on the size of the unit, its location, and the developer that build it.

 

Highway to Mandaluyong

It also covers a portion of the Greenfield District area where several offices and restaurants are located.

While predominantly populated by residential homes, the area is not only largely populated by commercial establishments, it is also heavily surrounded by other commercial establishments, offices, and even central business districts. For instance, the Barangay is ideally located in the part of Mandaluyong that is close to Makati, thereby opening up new opportunities for residents.

Travelling to and from any part of the Metro is also made easier by its proximity to the EDSA highway and the MRT Line 3, both of which provide drivers and commuters alike easy access to key areas in the Metro, particularly Quezon City and Pasig in the North, as well as Pasay, Makati, and Taguig in the South.

 

One of the Metro’s Middle Cities

The City of Mandaluyong is generally considered to be a hotspot for a variety of things. From business establishments and educational institutions to hole-in-the-wall restaurants and posh luxury shops, the city seems to have it all. If those are not enough, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Makati are a short drive away from Mandaluyong, offering their own unique variety of experiences that aim to satisfy.

Within the City of Mandaluyong, residents and transients are treated to some of the most sought after shopping spots in the Metro. Some of the best, and even biggest, shopping malls in the country can be found in Mandaluyong, ready to offer guests a taste of pretty much anything and everything they are looking for. SM Megamall, which was once known as the largest shopping mall in the country, remains to be one of the many shopping malls in Mandaluyong frequently visited by people from all over the Metro for their shopping needs. Adjacent to SM Megamall is Shangri-La Plaza, which similarly caters to the shopping needs of people from all over the Metro. Like most malls in their general area of residence, Shang has become a second home to some of the kids who spent hours enjoying the splendor of the mall.

Condo Living on the Highway

It’s not as bad as it sounds. The condo living experience in Highway Hills can be compared to the life of a businessman walking to his office, or a CEO being driven to his workplace. The cost of this experience, however, varies significantly. This depends heavily upon several factors, including the size of the condo unit to be bought, its location within the barangay, and the developer that built it.

Prices as of today range from Php600,000 to Php20 million. As of the latest listings, a one-bedroom unit in The Paddington Place is being offered at Php3.9 million. The condo is located a fair distance away from the busy EDSA Highway, but it would appear that it stands along, or fairly close to a main road, thus making it easier for residents to commute to and from the nearest access point or MRT Station along EDSA.
