2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach has a reason to be all smiles these days—finally, the beauty queen and global Filipina has moved into her very own home.
Pia’s happiness and excitement is evident in the photos of her new home which she eagerly shared on Instagram Stories. The photos were a glimpse inside her new prestigious address at The Milano Residences in Makati City, and tell a lot about her tastes and preferences when it comes to decorating and furnishing her abode.
Pia opted for a mid-century modern design theme, elegantly executed by the Heim Interiors of the Hurray Interior Design Group. The bedroom photo shows the use of minimalist earth tones complemented by pastel colors for accent. The plants at the bedroom balcony provide a refreshing sight with the parted curtains. Natural lighting comes from the glass panels that serve as a window and open to a balcony. There are also pictures of shelves displaying centerpieces like her Miss Universe and UNAID Ambassador glass trophies, with a few books and sculptural art. On the wall hangs a black-and-white framed nostalgic photo of pageant candidates on a beach.
In another corner of the condominium is Pia’s make-up room decorated in black and white hues. The use of textured white marble in her bathroom gave it a touch of luxury and elegance. Pia also shared a photo of a vinyl record player with the soundtrack of the Guardians of the Galaxy on cue. The beauty queen promised to share more photos later on when she is done with all the moving tasks.
In an earlier interview, Pia shared why the move was a major milestone in her life. She recalled the details of how she used to transfer from one rented house to another, never even imagining that she can have her own property someday. She narrated memories about the hard times in her past when coming up with rentals and payment for bills was at times a problem she had to deal with. When she first joined the Binibining Pilipinas pageant a few years ago, she was just staying in a friend’s house for almost 10 months—“nakikitira” in her own words.
She then moved to a very small apartment in Cubao. When she became Miss Universe she said she knew she would not be coming back to the place so she covered everything in the apartment with cloth. As she enters this new phase in her life, all she feels is relief that her hard work paid off.
According to Pia, it was a nice feeling to have her own space, a place she can truly call her own home. It is also worth noting that Pia was hands-on in every detail of her new home—from color palette choices, furnishings, interior design and everything.
“Every corner I look at, it’s me,” she says, describing her finished home.
Pia truly deserves a home fit for a queen, after all her efforts and the pride she brought to the nation. And she has every reason to be proud of this achievement of finally being a homeowner.
Filipinos often look to Pia, and many other celebrities, for inspiration when it comes to achieving their own dream homes. Just recently, the Kramers (Doug Kramer, Cheska Garcia, and their kids) celebrated completing the construction of their chic, modern rustic house after two years. Celebrated husband-and-wife duo #SosBolz (Solenn Heusaff and Nico Bolzico) have found time to update their four-storey home–just in time for their baby on the way. Box office queen Kathryn Bernardo is just starting the construction of her dream home, while Bianca Gonzalez recently gave fans a peek into the work in progress of building her future home with husband JC Intal and two kids.
From design and architecture tips to encouraging us to hustle for our dreams, we can always count on these and many other celebrity homeowners as our dream home pegs. Whether that means a new property or just making a few changes around your existing house, they’re always good reminders that every one of us deserves a home we can proudly call our own.
