Great Wedding Venues around the Philippines

These wedding venues around the Philippines can be where your happily-ever-after begins

Real estate’s old adage “location, location, location” also applies to weddings. The wedding venue is, after all, arguably one of the biggest considerations when planning the ceremony. It often influences the theme, the time of the ceremony, what other aspects of the wedding should be considered, and if it is possible for those invited to actually attend.

Indeed, choosing the best possible wedding venue can be a little daunting. This isn’t made any easier by the vast number of great places to tie the knot in the Philippines. It’s hard to choose! Yet, narrowing the selection down to a few well-known wedding locales may help couples to choose where to spend the biggest day of their life.

Baguio City

Baguio City provides a refreshing break from the Philippines’ warm, tropical climate. While the nation’s capital, Metro Manila, averages 30 degrees Celsius, the City of Pines often peaks at around 26 degrees on the hottest days of the year (and even dips below 10 degrees in January). This, combined with the pine breeze, makes it an ideal location for weddings.

For couples with a preference for a traditional church wedding, there are a plethora of churches in Baguio. You might like to choose Saint Joseph Parish in Pacdal, Saint Ignatius Chapel at the Philippine Military Academy Grounds, the Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral, or even Baguio Cathedral, located in Baguio’s commercial core. These are but a few places where you can have a traditional ceremony.

There are also a number of lovely locations for garden weddings in Baguio. Popular garden wedding venues in the city include the Bell Amphitheater or the Manor Hotel in Camp John Hay, the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary grounds, the Baguio Country Club, the BenCab Museum, and more.

Similar to Baguio, Tagaytay is a popular wedding destination because of its pleasantly cool weather. But unlike Baguio, it is much nearer to Metro Manila (about 58 kilometers southwest of the capital), which makes it easy for couples and their wedding guests to reach.

Most people holding a wedding in Tagaytay have chosen the city for its natural landscape. Indeed, many venues in the city offer views of Taal Lake and Volcano. These include Villa Ibarra, a boutique hotel along the Tagaytay–Nasugbu Highway, which is a popular choice due to its understated luxury and elegance. Another popular option is Tagaytay Highlands and its mountain-top golf and country club offering comprehensive wedding packages.

For couples looking to wed in a traditional Catholic church, Caleruega in nearby Nasugbu, Batangas, is arguably the most popular church venue associated with Tagaytay, although it is actually located two kilometers outside the city. It is a retreat center and nature park which combines a traditional church and garden wedding with the Caleruega Church and a wedding reception venue that can accommodate as many as 200 people.

Batangas Province

Couples who want a wedding venue near Metro Manila should consider Batangas Province. Unsuprisingly, beach weddings are very popular in a tropical country like the Philippines, and Batangas offers several ideal and affordable locations.

Like most communities in the Philippines, there are also a number of places to hold traditional church weddings in Batangas. These places include the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Lipa City, Taal Basilica in the town of Taal, and Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Lumbangan in Nasugbu.

In addition, the municipalities of Calatagan and San Juan have a host of beach resorts that can be booked for beach weddings and accommodation, providing options for the varying preferences of different couples. For those not keen on beach weddings but who still want to tie the knot in Batangas, they can always opt for the resorts or venues situated around Taal Lake.

Metro Manila

Metro Manila has a number of terrific wedding venues. While it is a little bit more expensive to hold a ceremony and reception in the metro, time and money can be saved because Metro Manila is so accessible, especially if you are living in the city anyway.

Couples with a penchant for history and tradition need not look further than the old walled city of Intramuros. Here, you can find the San Agustin Church, considered the country’s most famous wedding venue and the most sought-after. Then there is Casa Manila, which not only gives a historical feel to any wedding event, but also features a courtyard that can accommodate as many as 200 guests.

Garden weddings are also quite common in Metro Manila. For those who want to combine a church wedding with a garden setting, Paco Park is a great option. Paco Park houses Saint Pancratius Chapel, and it can be the wedding reception venue as well. Then there is the La Mesa Eco Park, a 33-hectare nature park and sanctuary in Quezon City that offers different reception areas that can accommodate up to 250 guests.

Cebu Province

The Province of Cebu takes pride in its wonderful beach wedding venues. The cities of Cebu and Mandaue, as well as the nearby island of Mactan, are some of the most popular wedding venues in the province, thanks to being ideal for beach weddings yet still being quite close to the city’s business district.

Well-known venues in the region include Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu White Sands Resort, and Plantation Bay Resort, which are all located on Mactan Island; Bantigue Cove Beach Resort in the municipality of Daanbantayan; and the Café Margarita in Mandaue City, among other places. Recommended wedding venues in Cebu City itself include Casino Español de Cebu and Oakridge Pavilion.

Being the first Philippine province established by the Spaniards, Cebu naturally has many venues for traditional church weddings. These include the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, the Sacred Heart Church, and the Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish. And as a major urban center, Cebu has a myriad of hotels and event centers as wedding reception venues.

Famous worldwide for its white sand, clear waters, and pulsating nightlife, Boracay indeed tops as a vacation spot. With this beautiful backdrop, it is ideal for those intent on having beach weddings. While it takes some effort to get to, Boracay’s popularity as a summer destination ensures attendees have access to all needed amenities.

The island’s many hotels and lodges give couples a number of options for their impending beach nuptials, an event that can be turned into a full-on vacation for them and their guests. Notable wedding venues on the island include Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa, Discovery Shores Boracay, Fairways & Bluewater, and Boracay Beach Club.

Those truly intent on having a beach wedding in Boracay but are bound by tradition to have a church wedding will not find a venue by the beach, but the island does have a number of chapels, such as the Mountain of God Ministries, Jesus Abundant Church, and Holy Rosary Parish Church. A simple church ceremony can be held at any of these churches before the nuptials on the beachfront.

While these are just some of the most popular wedding venues around the Philippines, many Filipino couples make do (and say “I do”) in their hometowns (or the bride’s hometown). As weddings in the Philippines are a celebration that involves the whole family, it is definitely more economical to hold it in a place that’s accessible to all those invited. A wedding is not just about lavish venues after all, but about the new couple as they look forward to a life together.
